about TUPF
DeeNice, the Digital Dynamo states her Digital Quest is “To Excite, Empower & Engage the modern world as they maneuver through the 21st century”
In the early 1980’s Denise Rhodes AKA “DeeNice The Digital Dynamo” began her, as she states so eloquently, “Relentless Pursuit To Tame The Technology Tiger, Grrowl”. It was then that she began to take classes, any classes needed, to educate herself on this new Digital world. Once that was accomplished, she launched The Urban Progressive Foundation (TUPF) 501(c)(3) public charity. The purpose of this 14 year old foundation is to educate, train, inform, and create hands-on programs/events that enhance the lives of urban and rural communities as they maneuver through life’s Digital Transitions.
Through community education, technology hands-on programs, and development TUPF helps the underserved communities maneuver through all facets of technology where it affects community health and lifestyle issues. These “underserved, yet well deserved” citizens become engaged, excited and empowered by transitioning to new and more efficient modalities in the modern tech world.
DeeNice states, ”I have come to appreciate the importance of “PLAIN SPEECH” when speaking to my fellow “mortals” about all aspects relating to this wild and ever evolving Digital Age. As DeeNice, The Digital Dynamo, my workshops cuts through all the “high-brow” “Techno-Lingo” and gets to the bottom-line in simple understandable terms. I am a bottom-line gal and my passion is that everyone be Excited, Engaged and most importantly Empowered in this Digital Era”.
Denise is on a mission to assist under-served communities (i.e. elderly, minorities, disabled and rural) to become connected during the Transition to Digital Television national switchover and Adoption of the National Broadband Plan.
On Dec 26, 2008 DeeNice created her 15 Steps Grandma Needs to Make to Install Her DTV Box. It was hilarious but unfortunately true!
Through her non-profit, The Urban Progressive Foundation, she led a powerful grassroots effort to train, educate, and assist communities to Transition to Digital Television before June 12, 2009. . She provided workshops, educational training, and hands-on events to assist in helping them get digitally connected.
By August 2009, her non-profit was responsible for installing over 1700 digital converter boxes in nursing homes, group shelters, low-income residents and senior facilities.
Denise Rhodes is currently hosting hands-on workshops on social media such as Blogging, Facebook, and Linked-In. Participants are amazed at how easy the ability to maneuver thru social media is now at the tip of their fingers!
